Website Copy Revisited

by Andrey Milyan

I’m very busy making sure you get the latest issue of the magazine on time. That’s why this one is going to be brief.

I don’t know how he does it, but Aaron Wall has added yet another brilliant post, this one is on “optimal word count and web page copy length.” I suggest you read it, bookmark it, print it, frame it and hang it over your bed.

While you’re at it, I strongly recommend adding Copyblogger to your RSS feed list. It’s one of the best copywriting blogs online.

I’ve been reading LOTS of books about selling with copy lately. Currently I’m finding value in:

    Ogilvy on Advertising
    The Copywriter’s Handbook by Bly
My Life in Advertising by Claude Hopkins
Advertising Secrets of the Written Word

These are mostly “old school” copywriting books and they are MAGNIFICENT for their emphasis on SALES.

Web marketers lose focus on sales sometimes, curiously enough.

I like copyblogger too - he’s a masterful copy writer. His roots are clearly in the books I mentioned above.
