Andy Beal has just announced the second SEM scholarship contest. Among the great prizes like a free pass to the SES conference in San Jose, a free course at Search Engine College and one month of industry training by Andy Beal, the winning entry will also be printed in our magazine. The winner will also get one free year of AdWatcher (a click fraud monitoring service) and a year of AdScientist (bid management software) from our sister company. The whole prize package totals $10,000!
How do I enter?
Simply submit an article on any subject related to search engine optimization (SEO), pay-per-click advertising (PPC) or social media optimization (SMO) before the April 6th deadline. We want your top tips, your favorite tricks or a secret tactic that our readers would find useful. Throughout the week of April 9th we’ll publish the qualifying entries and give each article 4 weeks (from publication) to attract as many readers as possible. Entrants are encouraged to provide articles that are optimized for the search engines and also utilize the various search and social media channels to promote their work.
What are the guidelines?
- Send your entry to scholarship AT marketingpilgrim.com.
- Include your name and email address.
- Your article must be between 400 and 1000 words.
- Your article must formatted using plain text. The only HTML permitted is emphasis of text (such as italics, underline or bolding), lists and hyperlinks.
- Graphics are permitted but must be hosted on your own server, or a service such as Flickr, and must be marked-up in the article (we will not add them for you).
- Each entry must be previously unpublished and you agree not to publish elsewhere until the contest’s conclusion.
- Your article can be about any topic related to search engine optimization, paid search or social media, but remember the winner will be chosen based upon popularity, so the more original and engaging your article, the more likely you will attract readers and reach the final.
- One entry per person.
- Any incidence of spam or “black hat” techniques will result in the disqualification of the entry. If in any doubt, ask yourself if you would apply the same techniques to the campaign for a company such as General Electric or Apple.
- See below for additional contest rules.
