With all the talk recently about load speed becoming a consideration in Google’s ranking of websites, it’s kind of interesting to see the Exceptional Performance team at Yahoo! come out this week with Boomerang, a cool app that will report back to you on users’ perception of how long it takes your site to load on their browsers.
“Boomerang is a piece of Javascript that you add to your web pages, where it measures the performance of your website from your end user’s point of view. It has the ability to send this data back to your server for further analysis. With Boomerang, you find out exactly how fast your users think your site is.”
It looks easy to set up on your site and, once installed, it will send back data that will enable you to judge more accurately when a page becomes “usable” to an end user. Various scenarios are included, all of which gives you some insight into areas of your pages or site that may not be operating as efficiently as it appears to you from your point of view and within the parameters your computer setup operates.
If you want more info, all the details are available here on the functionality as well as instructions on how to implement. ![[]](http://www.searchmarketingstandard.com/wp-content/themes/sms/images/entry-end.gif)
