Brand Loyalty – Google Rules At Microsoft

I took a couple of days off this week for a road trip, so you’ll have to forgive me for missing this one until now. Apparently a number of studies have recently shown that people searching the Internet from Microsoft domains prefer the taste of Google over MSN. Where are the Pepsi/Coke taste test team when you need them?

Just for the record, Google domain searchers 100% use Google. Microsoft comes in at about 20% using MSN – most using Google (between 67% and 80% depending on the study) and some use Yahoo!

This must be a bitter pill for Microsoft to swallow. On the one hand, they want their workforce to be as efficient as possible and use the best possible avenues for research, but it’s clear that their workforce does not believe their own product is the way to enlightenment. Ouch!
