Dash + Yahoo Local = In-Car Local Search Coming in Q4

January 3rd, 2007

Tags : Blog, Local Search.

Many moons ago I wrote about a supposed partnership between Google and Volkswagon on a navigation system. I never heard much more about it after that.

This news of Dash + Yahoo seems a little more substantial – and more practical as it appears that the actual navigation hardware device is portable from car to car.

Yahoo local is – to me – one of the more exciting local search products, especially with its emphasis on collaborative content. That said, Dash would have been a real coup of a deal for the new Ask City product ;)

If you’re a local business owner, or in charge of distribution at big box retailers, I invite you to get familiar with the concepts in Matt McGee’s
Local Search’s Killer App: Real-Time Inventory.

Also, watch for a company by the name of Yokel to be a player in the real-time inventory to mobile local/city search space.
