Andrey, thanks for the reviews. I’m actually collecting signed seo books just to see how may I can get. Writing a good book on seo that isn’t outdated as soon as its published is indeed a chore.

My favorite is Search Engine Marketing, Inc.: Driving Search Traffic to Your Company’s Web Site by Bill Hunt and Mike Moran. I didn’t just read it, I studied it.

Also thanks for the idea. I should start reviewing books for my blog.
By the way I’ll have that outline to you early next week.

We will have some more book reviews in the Spring issue of the Search Marketing Standard magazine.

With books on SEO there is always a trade off, either you have to be very vague and not go into too much detail in order to stay more or less up-to-date or your book will be old news in a month if you do the opposite.

In that respect, PPC books are a bit easier to deal with. We have managed to stay more or less up-to-date with the PPC Handbook for 2 years. Of course, now when Yahoo has released its new platform and Microsoft launched their adCenter, the book is getting a makeover and the new, 2007 edition is coming out some time in February.

  7. Something it just nice to get away from the web and just read a book, some good ideas there on what’s available. I know most of these change but I guess if you have the basics that’s all you need to start.

SEO: An Hour A Day is well organized, consistent in thought and style and filled with great information. In some cases they confirmed information I had read elsewhere (which can be very helpful in itself) … and in other cases taught me new things I did not know. The authors do a great job of making the subject fun and interesting. My sincere belief is that any business owner (large or small) who is interested in growing their business using the power of the internet should read this book. In fact, this is a great first book to pick up because it starts at the beginning and builds from there. It is also a great starter because the authors are gracious enough to direct you to additional sources they consider to be authoritative.
