A better way to check your own position would be to use http://www.google.com/adpreview which is meant for this purpose. We notice more often that on some clients we see our own ads on lower positions (8-10) in stead of the top 3 positions.

According to Google this is because of an adjustment in Adwords. It now notices you never (or too often) clicking on (your own) certain ads and positioning it lower on some clients.

Using the URL http://www.google.com/adpreview you can see the actual positions of your ad not biased by your clicking behaviour.

I guess it will show your ad anytime even if you have blocked your own ip (I did not test this, but I assume it will work like that).

  2. Hein,

Thank you very much for the link. I have to admit – I didn’t even know about it. However, I think quite a few people will find it useful.
