King of the Bill … Who Will Come Out on Top?

It’s been awhile since I blogged (why does that always sound a little like some weird natural function no one every told you about until you grew up?). I was reading a blog today about operating an online directory and they mention a site that is taking the milliondollarpage idea one step further. Basically, to become “King of the Bill“, you purchase the current top ad space for just $1 more than the guy just below you paid for his spot. Your advertising banner will be shown on the forum sites the owner operates, until someone buys the ad spot $1 higher than you paid. So I went to the site and saw someone a few spots down from the king of the bill was a web developer which I thought was kind of interesting.

So I clicked on his banner and took a look around his site. Is this the future of pay-per-click advertising? Hardly. But it’s certainly a lot easier on the eyes than pixel-sized ads. And I don’t think I would have ever come across any of the sites who have been King of the Bill (if only for just fleeing seconds) on the list so far just in my usual day-to-day browsing. So if the web developer makes just one sale off his $32 investment … or the Alaska seafood folks who blew him away for a flat $33 … it may be worth the “me-too” flavor (especially for some fresh Alaska salmon LOL)
