Yahoo has announced today a content distribution and promotion deal with 176 local newspapers. The announcement comes less than a month after Google has decided to take a second shot at the print advertising. It seems to me that the Yahoo deal has a much better chance of succeeding. Via JenSense, Yahoo Publisher Network adds Compliance Manager, a service that will display alerts for any terms of service violations. Any warnings will be displayed on the front page of the YPN account, as well as sent via email.

Lycos sells its online lead generation unit, GetRelevant.

Barry posts that Live.com is banning website for link exchanges. This news might be a bit overblown because it seems that only link exchanges with unrelated sites are being penalized. It’s about time for Microsoft to start doing something about that spam in Live.com’s search results.
