Although your arguments are valid, I think social media should be for every business!

Maybe it should be less used by some, but considering the impact of social media on the daily life of all people, I don't think it should be neglected.

If your competitors are not involved in social media, maybe you can get a competitive advantage by being the first to be there. If they are doing it, you Must be there.

Social media takes time, true. But you can always hire the servies of a consultant on a part time basis. it is efficient and cost effective.

Any business should have an audience in order to survive! And a business needs to know their target very well!

As for the knowledge...again, there are specialised consultancy companies on social media.

Small or big, you need to make use of social media if you want to be where the conversation is, where your target is!

Frank, Thanks for some practical advice. The blogoshere is often ripe with untested opinions. The suggestions you offer would do many companies a world of benefit to ask before starting to become involved in social media.

Thanks!
