U.S. Mobile Advertising Way Behind Europeans

MarketingVOX News has an interesting report on the mobile ad rates in U.S. and Europe. According to M:Metrics, U.S. mobile text ad response rate in August was 7%, compared with over 29% in Europe. Only 12.8% of mobile subscribers received a text ad, compared to almost 67% in Spain.

According to another study, 78% of mobile users polled said they’d be willing to receive targeted ads on their mobile phone.

It is clear that mobile advertising in the U.S. is lagging way behind the rest of the world (at least Europe and Japan). At this point, there is still a chance for a smaller start-up to take a lead in this niche.

P.S. Look for the mobile search marketing article in the Winter issue of Search Marketing Standard magazine.

Cellufun.com is leading the way in the US in providing free, advertising sponsored content. The US does lag in adoption, but we do believe that the market in the US is about to explode as the number of subscribers with data capable phones is exploding.
