Google always considers the amount and frequency of press releases made by your company to gauge it’s relevance for a particular keyword. You could try sanepr, myfreepr, pr and newswiretoday for starters..
I think it’s a waste of time pushing a press release online manually.
Using services such as prweb.com is far more effective and usually not that expensive.
Any updat or sign of activity is good for SEO but think that updating-effort could better be put in the updat itself; thats what the spider will see and find and your reader will find through RSS
